Wine Fingerprints
Describing sensory perceptions, such as taste, is a challenging task. A suitable visualization tool for such sensory descriptions would help several groups of users. On the one hand for a customer, the visualization of the taste or flavor of a specific wine would help him/her to choose the right one according to own individual preferences. On the other hand for a language researcher, it could be interesting to understand how people talk about such sensory perceptions, what types of metaphorizations or lexical resources exist, etc. This is usually done in so-called wine tasting notes written by wine expers.
We developed novel visualization approaches for both groups of such users. Checking the patentability of our approaches had been financially supported by Innovationsbron.
The Wine Fingerprints project was performed in the year 2010 in collaboration with the Centre for Languages and Literature of Lund University, Sweden.
